Let’s Chat

I mentioned in the November edition of my online newsletter that I receive numerous requests from churches who want to talk to other churches who have Woman to Woman Mentoring. But I have no way of knowing who those churches are since they don’t contact me when they start the ministry.

So I thought we could use my blog for you to talk to each other and ask your questions. So fire away!

Also some of you are wanting to know how to start Breast Cancer Support groups, and you too could talk to each other here.

For guidelines in starting Praying for Your Prodigal Daughter Support groups go to http://www.prayingforyourprodigaldaughter.com/

So grab a cup of coffee or tea and let’s chat!

  1. Hi Janet and other Mentoring-interested folks!

We have been doing W2W Mentoring (as we affectionately call it) since the fall of 2006 and have seen over 50 women in our 300-ish member church become involved in some way. We are in the Lansing, Michigan area.

What an awesome ministry that God is SO involved in and orchestrating. I LOVE how each match is BATHED in prayer and it shows in the results.

The only thing I would like to improve is drawing the interest of more mature women. I’m in my early 40s myself and yearn to have godly counsel from those who have “been around the block” a few more times than myself 🙂

    Any ideas?

  2. Congratulations on your mentoring ministry!

I do have one suggestions. Most churches have a seniors’ ministry like Young At Heart. Ask if you can be at one of their meetings and perform the “Mentoring Game” skit for them. If possible include some of the women in the skit. Let them know how valuable their experience is and explain a little bit about the ministry and be sure to tell them details about the next coffee.
    It worked for us.

  3. Hi Janet! My prayers are with you in your next battle! The Victory is already ours!
We are trying to revitalize our M&M ministry here at our church. We have around 2000 members, yet have very few women participating. We need ideas to breath new “life” back into our ministry. Can anyone out there help us please? Thanks, Vickie J.

  4. Hi Vickie!

How about hosting an Alumni event for everyone who has participated in the ministry…whether as an M&M or one of the many support roles?

  5. Hi Vickie,
Thank you for your prayers. We know God has a plan and we are just waiting to see it unfold.

ilovemylab had a great idea for you. I would also suggest going back to the beginning basics and ask to speak at meetings where ladies in your church gather together. Give a short summary of the ministry and perform the Mentoring Game Skit (Form N in the Ministry Coordinator’s Guide)and be sure to have flyers of when and where your next Coffee is being held.

Ask if you can show in your church the promo from the DVD (or video if you have an earlier kit)to advertise your next Coffee.

Or ask to have a former M&M match give a testimony in church or when you visit the ladie’s groups.

Does that give you some ideas?
