Woman to Woman Mentoring:

How to Start, Grow, and Maintain a Mentoring Ministry

AUTHOR JANET THOMPSON, teaches the Woman to Woman Mentoring model replicated in churches around the world and developed at Saddleback Church. This ministry prayerfully matches women into one-on-one encouraging, supporting, mentoring relationships according to Titus 2:3-5. Spiritually younger women need spiritually older women to help them grow and mature in their walk with the Lord. Learn about a unique and effective way to bring these two groups of women together. Discover how to make mentoring more than another program—learn how to make it an ongoing way of life in your church. Interactive, practical, and designed for both leaders and team members. Based on Janet’s leadership resource Woman to Woman Mentoring: How to Start, Grow, and Maintain a Mentoring Ministry DVD Leader Kit.

What is Face-to-Face Mentoring?

MENTORING ENHANCES and affects every aspect of women’s ministry. God provided us with biblical role models of mentoring that we can follow in our lives today. Explore together the truths about mentoring, its role in God’s plan for the spiritual maturity of the church, and ways to help the women of your church incorporate mentoring into their daily lives. Based on Janet Thompson’s Face-To-Face Bible Study Series.

The Team That Jesus Built

NUMEROUS THEORIES and books are written on leadership and team building, but from personal experience Janet learned that none surpass the example of Jesus and His team of disciples. Using the Gospel of Mark as the text, Janet will help you develop a team that is equipped to do the Lord’s work even when you’re not around. Based on Janet Thompson’s The Team That Jesus Built: How to Develop, Equip, and Commission a Ministry Team.

EVENTS OR RETREATS

Be Your Own Kind of Brave

We all have our own ideas about what it means to be brave and courageous. Seldom do any of us use those words to describe ourselves. But every woman is much braver than she might think in the ordinary everyday circumstances of life. As we discuss and answer questions regarding what it means to be brave, we’ll explore how God wants each of us to be brave, just like He inspired 50 women in the Bible to be brave beyond their expectations of themselves. Together, we’ll look at ways to be brave when we put our hope and faith in the only One who can give us the courage to stay the course. This topic inspired by Janet’s latest book Everyday Brave: Living Courageously as a Woman of Faith.

Mentoring For All Seasons

FROM TWEENS TO TWILIGHT YEARS we all need mentoring in the various seasons of our life and we need to know how to share our life experiences to mentor others. Come learn how easy it is to be a mentor and a mentee in your life season. Find answers to questions like: Why is intentional mentoring so important and why does God want us doing life together? What is mentoring and what are the blessings? God calls spiritually younger and older women to learn from and teach one another through all life’s seasons. Let’s learn together from the Bible as Janet shares practical tips and real life stories from her book Mentoring for All Seasons: Sharing Life Experiences and God’s Faithfulness.

Ways to Remember God’s Goodness

BASED ON HER BOOK Forsaken God?: Remembering the Goodness of God Our Culture Has Forgotten, Janet shares how remembering God’s goodness applies to our spiritual and personal life. She offers practical ways to remember, recognize, and record God’s past and present goodness to strengthen believers’ faith for the future. Audiences are challenged to help change a culture and generation quickly forgetting God. We can make a difference, but first we must remember how God has made a difference in our life.

Forever Friends

THIS IS ONE of Janet’s most popular topics for retreats. Every woman cherishes the relationship of a forever friend—it’s an integral part of our womanhood. Women need each other: many times only another woman can understand the uniqueness of being a woman. Like any relationship, a friendship needs to be built on trust, commitment, and confidentiality. Have fun with this interactive theme that includes drama and audience participation.

Woman to Woman Mentoring

THIS TOPIC is close to Janet’s heart. It’s the ministry she first developed at Saddleback Church and is now duplicated in churches around the world. Janet passionately implores every woman to follow God’s command to tell the next generation the Good News of Jesus Christ and what He has done in their lives. One-on-one mentoring relationships are a biblically based application of Titus 2:3-5 and bless both the Mentor and Mentee (M&M’s). Janet gives practical ways for women to walk beside each other and grow together in their Christian lives.

Generation to Generation: Sisters-in-Christ Together for the Journey

OUR LIVES center on relationships. Janet provides insight into some key relationships in the Bible and how they grew through friendship, love, and mentoring. Janet will share with you pearls of wisdom taken from her popular Face-To-Face Bible Study Series.

A Cup of Encouragement

JANET SHARES parts of her own testimony in a way that each woman present will identify with as they laugh and cry at both her and themselves. Using the acrostic WOMEN and applicable Scriptures, she challenges women to be encouraged and to be encouragers to others through the good, the bad, and the “only-God-knows-why-this-happened” times of life.

Titus 2 is Tea for Two for Me and You

PERFECT FOR A TEA or an event where tea pots or tea cups will be used in the decor. The spiritually mature Titus 2 women are developed as the tea pots. The process of making a good cup of tea is likened to the spiritual growth and maturing of Christian women who, as the tea pot, were made to pour into the spiritually younger women who are the tea cups waiting to be filled. This talk is used effectively to introduce the mentoring concept in your church.

As for Me and My House, We Will Serve The Lord

MOST CHRISTIAN WOMEN struggle with the tug between their personal family and the church family. Which should come first in your time, your energy, your life? We feel guilty and torn having to choose. Janet will help you see that your house is God’s house and the two can live as one. Based on Face-To-Face With Priscilla and Aquila: Balancing Life and Ministry.

From Conflict to Community

IS THE MINISTRY potential in your church being weakened by infighting and disagreements amongst the women who are serving? Do not be dismayed—Paul had the same problem in his ministry. Janet will explore with you the ways Paul and Christ suggested to resolve and overcome this type of conflict before it hinders the effectiveness of your ministry. Based on Face-To-Face With Euodia and Syntyche: From Conflict to Community.

Being a Mary in a Martha World

WE ALL STRUGGLE with wanting to do more than we have time or energy to achieve. There is much to learn from the Lord’s relationship with the two sisters, Mary and Martha. This session gives audiences a renewed heart for serving joyfully and a godly perspective of priorities as they learn to choose the “better way.” Based on Face-To-Face With Mary and Martha: Sisters-in-Christ.

Jesus Our “First Love”

YOU WILL FALL in love with Jesus all over again. The passion you have for Him will be rekindled as you discover ways to express your love to Jesus through prayer, journaling, and your quiet times. This is an especially appropriate topic if your event is near Valentine’s Day or Easter.

Dear God, They Say It’s Cancer!

AN EXCLAMATION expressed by Janet in 2002 and also the title of her best-selling book Dear God, They Say It’s Cancer: A Companion Guide for Women on the Breast Cancer Journey. Janet loves to encourage and uplift other breast cancer sisters and their friends and family by sharing the hope and purpose she found in her breast cancer. One of her favorite talks is “Enjoying the Good Days—Making it Through the Bad Days.” Janet speaks from her heart and own experience and discusses the healing power of journaling and prayer. She speaks to support groups, churches, hospitals . . . anywhere cancer has touched a life. Audiences always comment, “That was just what I needed to hear!”

Hope for the Hopeless

WOMEN SOMETIMES FEEL HOPELESS. Let Janet walk your ladies through a day with Him and show them how to recharge their spiritual life by plugging into God daily.
